Exciting day at The Woodhouse Centre today as BBC

Exciting day at The Woodhouse Centre today as BBC Southeast came to do a news piece on what local residents think are the most important issues to them in the May local elections.
BBC Southeast is running a feature next week, reporting across the County and Tandridge, due to all seats being contested this year.
With this and the boundary changes, as well as our high number of residents groups, the local government information unit has declared Tandridge an area of interest.
BBC’s Charlotte Wright spent time chatting to The Woodhouse Centre members and volunteers, including lovely Jo who has created a collection of camper van themed waterproof blankets and walking mats using re-cycled woollen packaging!
Keep an eye out for the news piece set to air next week.

Car Park Card Scammers - they are at it again in E

Car Park Card Scammers - they are at it again in Ellice Road Car Park...
If anyone asks you to pay for their ticket with your card in return for cash, say no!
And report to Tandridge District Council - 8 Station Rd East or call 01883 722000.
Or if they're still there, call the police on 101.
Please also note: the ELLICE ROAD car park is free for 2 hours weekdays.
It is also free after 5pm and all weekend.
If you are sure you have been less than 2 hours or if the gates are up you do not need to go the machine. Simply drive straight out.

JOIN US IN OXTED AND WAVE TO THE SKY FOR SURREY DAY - 11 MAY 2024

A celebration of all that is great about the county, Surrey Day returns on Saturday, May 11th for a sixth year, bringing together the county's towns, villages and attractions in recognition of our fantastic corner of England.

The free community initiative, which is spearheaded by Visit Surrey, the county’s official tourist board, alongside its partners BBC Surrey and Surrey Lieutenancy, is a much-anticipated celebration that sees people of all ages come together.

This year, there's a high-flying theme, "Surrey From The Sky" and Surrey Day hopes to take a fresh look at our county, gazing down on its glorious landscape, raising our eyes to the skies...

What's Happening in OXTED

We'd love you to celebrate Surrey Day by coming into your local town, supporting your local high streets, shops and businesses by shopping, eating and drinking local, whether it's breakfast, brunch, lunch or a quick coffee and browsing the shops...

We're going to be putting on some special entertainment on the day too and setting up a bit of a party atmosphere.
Initial plans include:

11am: OXTED'S WAVE TO THE SKY! Talented local drone pilot Matt Cuzen will hopefully (weather and permits depending!) be flying his drone over the town and we want everyone on the pavement to give him a wave! We'll be publishing the footage to our social and to Visit Surrey.

Live Music 11am-3pm: Line-up to be announced shortly.

Kids Activity 12pm-3pm:
Face painting with Honey Bee
Superhero Surrey Day activity for kids with Character Parties with Bee. Meet and greet Spiderman and Captain Marvel and do some superhero craft from 2-3pm followed by Superhero dance with Kerry Payne from KPA Dance.

We will also be publishing some amazing aerial photos and video footage on our website and socials from Britain from Above and contemporary local photographers and drone pilots, including Nada Khalaf-Jones (featured post image), Matt Cuzen, Darren Giles and Hudds Photos.
