Recently, we took a little trip down to Fennies Nu

Recently, we took a little trip down to Fennies Nurseries in Amy Road to see the staff and little ones.
The purpose built building, which opened in 2019, has different zones for different age groups, lots of friendly, smiley staff (very important!) and a relaxed feel despite their very obvious focus on security - no phones are allowed inside, and every room is coded entry. It certainly doesn’t make it feel intimidating; simply safe and secure, which is what you want for your child and for your peace of mind.

We had a guided tour of the whole place, but spent time in two of the main rooms; firstly the toddlers who were enjoying some time in a reading corner with the lovely Jade, followed by a bit of craft and glue time before lunch (made fresh daily on site by dedicated kitchen staff). The children all look relaxed and happy, a testament to their lovely carers/educators, several of whom are former Oxted School girls with families that are well-established in the community.

Upstairs we sat in with former Oxted School student, Katherine, now Level 3 Baby Room Leader, who has been with Fennies for several years and loves her job. She’s brilliant with the babies, who clearly adore her and it’s lovely to see all their smiling faces.

We got the impression it’s a tightly run ship, and a very happy one.

This time last year Adam James opened his new salo

This time last year Adam James opened his new salon on Station Road East next to Bru & Bear. The salon has been a great success with its ethos for single appointments, where stylists only ever work with one guest at a time, meaning the customer is the centre of attention throughout.

Adam, from Warlingham, has settled into the Oxted community effortlessly and is a great promoter of other businesses in the town. If you’ve wandered down the street since last weekend, you’ll see his amazing window art by freestyle artist, Sam TM @samtmart, which shows his favourite independent businesses in the town, Inches, Kinjo, Hammond’s and A Useful Friend.

For the whole month of May, Adam is giving his clients free cocktails with every appointment, allowing them to indulge themselves just that little bit more!

“It’s with immense joy and gratitude that we mark our salon’s first anniversary!” said Adam this week. “Our dream has been to create a beautiful, warm space where every client feels like family. And we’ve been overwhelmed by the love and support we’ve received from the local community.
Oxted you have been great, thank you !!! So to all all our wonderful clients, both old and new, thank you for supporting us and for making each day a joy-filled experience!”
