Fun Times for Oxted this July

A huge Congratulations to Oxted to being #39 in the Telegraph’s annual “Britain’s 50 most desirable towns”. That’s a pretty good achievement, following on from our #1 in Muddy Surrey’s Best Places to Live earlier in the year.

Well done to all our local students for making it through GCSEs and A’ Levels. You’ve done it! We’re very proud of you. Here’s to the rest of your lives and lots of fun times, adventure and achievements ahead.

The Summer Holidays are upon us and the annual Oxted Festival is now here! This is a fantastic weekend in Oxted, with a huge turnout from near and far, to celebrate everything that’s great about our town and its surrounds, with brilliant local beers, delicious street food and some cracking bands, culminating with Oxted’s finest local musicians (and always the best band of all), Randy & The Rockets.

JULY special dates to use as an excuse to celebrate all the wonderful things we have in Oxted…

  • 2nd July – Thank You Day – say thanks to teachers, to volunteers and to your local businesses
  • 7th July – World Chocolate Day – no excuse needed
  • 15th July – World Youth Skills Day – what can you learn this July?
  • 15th July – Oxted pop-up summer street market on Station Roads East and West – come and support local businesses as well as your local high street – food, drink, clothing and accessories, arts and crafts and family entertainment.
  • 16th July – National Ice Cream Day – again, no excuse needed!
  • 20th July – Musical Bingo – The Ginistry
  • 20-22nd July – A Night at the Musicals, Barn Theatre
  • 25th July – Cheese and Wine Day – a great way to spend an afternoon on Master Park with a picnic basket!
  • 30th July – International Day of Friendship – it’s all about making every single person feel special and saying thank you to those people you choose to be in your life through thick and thin…
  • Plus… Oxted country market every Friday.

Finally, a thank you so much for all the lovely messages and support for our Pride flags. We just wanted to bring some inclusive colour to the town and it looked lovely, until a couple of very un-community-spirited people decided to spoil it for everyone by vandalising them. Shame on them, but despite these very few small-minded individuals, Oxted should be incredibly proud of its community.

We’re looking forward to a fun-filled July in Oxted!
