If you’ve seen the latest Oxted Local, you’ll already have seen our spring update… but here it is with some added extras and updates! It’s been a very busy start to the year in Oxted, with lots of changes afoot, as well as a busy month coming up with Mother’s Day and Easter.
Oxted BID news
Many of you will know Anne-Marie Dickinson, owner of long-standing Station Road East boutique, Number 44. Anne-Marie has stepped down as Director/Board Member of The Oxted BID. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU for all her work helping to support Oxted businesses over many years. Nicki Rundle has taken Anne-Marie’s spot on the BID team. Nicki is a Senior Associate at Morr & Co LLP, lawyers on Station Road West. We’re very happy to have her on board.
Rebrands and renovations
It’s been lovely to see the new year relaunches of La Maison and Bru & Bear (formerly The Deli). These two much-loved high street businesses on Station Road East have stepped up for 2024 and are looking very smart! Make sure you pay them a visit soon.
Congratulations to Bru & Bear for the recent opening of their new Reigate branch.
What’s the goss?
New owner for Number 44 – After 12 years, it’s time for a change for Anne-Marie (see above) and she’s off to Ireland, where she already spends much of her time. She’s handed over the reins of Number 44 to Caterina Tasker, whom many of you will already know, as she has worked at the shop for nine years. Pop in and see her. Good luck Anne-Marie and Caterina.
Bocata (@bocataoxted) is a sister business to Pan y Vino. Located in the lovely little shop by the station tunnel entrance on Station Road East, Bocata is an authentic Spanish deli and sandwich bar with all produce selected and sourced by owner, Sergio.
Boccognani is an independent women’s fashion boutique located at the top of Station Road East in the former home of Tender Trap, next to Coral and A Useful Friend. Selling mid-range Italian labels, the boutique will be a great addition to Oxted, complementing our other independent fashion retailers, Mint, Fusspotts, Number 44, Jules, Woodward Menswear, IG Equine and La Maison. The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 10am-6pm, and managed by Karen Taylor, sister of Oxted-based garden designer Scott Taylor (of Scott Taylor Garden Design on Station Road West).
Kinjo will be launching its new Japanese takeaway, Takusan in April (updated from Oxted Local article) in the former Subway shop at the bottom of Station Road East.
Lorimers and Lorimers Toy Box will be closing at the end of the month. This is sad news for Oxted, as these life-saving shops have kept parents in last minute birthday presents and school stationery/art supplies for years 🙁 We hope something equally as useful will take their place soon…
Word on the street is that a tattooist and a brand-new bakery /coffee shop (no, not Gails!) are also coming to Oxted…Keep your eyes peeled to social media for updates and other new businesses that are still hush-hush!
Move for Fusspotts to Elements! Due to development of their existing shop opposite Waitrose, Fusspotts will be moving to the studio above Elements Lifestyle Salon on Station Road East in July.
