Local photographer Darren Giles has been out with his drone snapping photos of Oxted ahead of Surrey Day, Saturday 11 MAY 2024, when Surrey is celebrating Surrey from the Sky.

There will be entertainment and special activities in Oxted, including a WAVE TO THE SKY at 11-11.15AM when another very talented and local photographer, Matt Cuzen @matthewcuzen will do a drone flyover to capture us all out and about in our lovely town centre!

Come and join in the fun!

👋11-11.15AM - WAVE TO THE SKY - Local drone pilot and photographer, Matt Cuzen will be passing over Oxted with a drone to capture the town on Surrey Day!!

🎶11.15AM to 3PM - live music including: 11.15-12.00 The Oxted Band, 12.30-1.15 - Moonshine & Molly on Station Road West; 1.15-2.00 - Oxted Musical Theatre Company Station Road East. Exact locations tbc. Keep an eye on social!

🦋11AM-2PM - FREE face painting from Oxted’s Honey Bee Face Painting at Dessert Spot

🦸2-3PM - Super Hero Surrey Day with Character Parties with Bee meet and greet with superheroes and craft (outside BOOTS)

🦸‍♂️3pm - Superman Dance lesson with Kerry Payne

📷We will also be publishing amazing aerial photos and video footage on our website and socials from Britain from Above and contemporary local photographers and drone pilots, including Nada Khalaf-Jones, Matt Cuzen, Darren Giles and Hudds Photos.

It’s the East Grinstead Bus Running Day, bringing together over 25 classic buses that used to operate in and around the town.
Destinations include Turners Hill, Lingfield, Godstone and *Oxted*. Runs until 4.30 today and the bus rides are free!

Exciting day at The Woodhouse Centre today as BBC

Exciting day at The Woodhouse Centre today as BBC Southeast came to do a news piece on what local residents think are the most important issues to them in the May local elections.
BBC Southeast is running a feature next week, reporting across the County and Tandridge, due to all seats being contested this year.
With this and the boundary changes, as well as our high number of residents groups, the local government information unit has declared Tandridge an area of interest.
BBC’s Charlotte Wright spent time chatting to The Woodhouse Centre members and volunteers, including lovely Jo who has created a collection of camper van themed waterproof blankets and walking mats using re-cycled woollen packaging!
