Spotlight on Station Shoe Repairs: Oxted’s traditional shoe menders since 1950s

There has been a lot of change in Oxted over the years, and especially over the pretty west side of the station, but one of the consistent residents is Stuart Kent of Station Shoe Repairs.

Originally in the spot now housing Station Cars, Station Shoe Repairs was owned by much-loved local, John Holloway, and his dad before him since the 1950s. John sold to current owner, Stuart in 1997, who moved the shop over the road in 2002.

Stuart and his beautiful Boxer, Luna are well known in Oxted, and having been a cobbler for over 30 years, Stuart will turn his hand to pretty much anything, using both traditional and more contemporary techniques, machine and hand stitching of shoes, boots, bags and other leather items.

Repairs include: Full leather soles – Half leather soles – Rubber soles – Stick on soles – Rubber heels – Quarter rubber and leather heels – Quarter iron heels – Elastic replacement – Velcro replacement – Heel lining.

As well as shoe repairs, Stuart is also a whiz at key-cutting and engraving of pet tags, and offers a fast, friendly and reliable service.

“Stuart is great. I have used him for all my shoes (and key cutting) for many years. Always top class workmanship and always a happy smiling face.”
