This week marks Carers Week, a time to raise public awareness of caring, make carers aware of the support available and help people realise they are carers if they weren’t already aware.
A variety of free events will take place during Carers Week, both virtually and face to face outdoors across Surrey, to recognise, celebrate and support the 115,000 unpaid family carers in Surrey, while also giving them a chance for a little ‘me time’.
Action for Carers Surrey also offers Surrey’s unpaid family carers a range of support and information, including:
- Benefits help (including filling out forms).
- Advocacy.
- Expert knowledge and advice from Action for Carers Surrey’s helpline team and 1-to-1 carers advisors in the community.
- Specialist support for young carers (under 18), young adults (aged 18-24) and carers connected to the Armed Forces in Surrey.
Any carer, of any age, who needs help, advice or emotional support should contact Action for Carers by calling 0303 040 1234, e-mailing CarerSupport@actionforcarers.org.uk or registering online.
