Climbing New Heights with Cadence Accounting in Oxted

At first glance, accounting and mountain climbing might not seem like natural companions – but for Cadence Accounting, the link between the two couldn’t be clearer.

Founded in 2009 by Ryan Evans – a seasoned accountant, auditor, advisor and outdoor enthusiast – Cadence Accounting is not just about numbers. It’s about resilience, progress, and unlocking the potential in every business journey. “Much of our approach is inspired by the mountains you’ll see throughout our branding,” explains Ryan. “For us, they are symbols of challenge and growth – and a powerful reminder that the sense of accomplishment comes not just from reaching the summit, but from pushing yourself along the way.”

Based in the heart of Oxted for the past three years, Cadence Accounting has grown into a dynamic team of 16 (soon to be 17) professionals who are on a mission to change how people perceive accountants. “We like to think we’re not your average accountant,” says Lucy Luscombe, Head of Strategy at Cadence. “We pride ourselves on building fun, collaborative and forward-thinking partnerships with our clients. It’s about using accounting as a strategic tool for growth and success – not just something you do to stay compliant.”

Their client base is as diverse as their services. Cadence works with everyone from local businesses on Oxted’s high street to companies operating nationally and internationally. For many, the priority is keeping on top of compliance, reducing risk and ensuring peace of mind that deadlines and filings are being managed properly. For others, Cadence offers a more hands-on, value-driven service that includes outsourced finance functions, management accounts, fractional CFO services, and deal support for buying or selling businesses.

It’s a tailored approach that reflects Cadence’s belief in accounting as a journey – one that should be as rewarding as the destination. “We provide a full range of solutions, from straightforward bookkeeping to strategic financial guidance,” says Lucy. “It’s about making sure our clients feel supported at every stage.”

Their decision to settle in Oxted was a natural one. “We love being part of Oxted’s vibrant high street,” says Lucy. “It’s a fantastic community and a wonderful place to live and work. Our founder and several of our team live locally, and their children have attended schools in the area. Others travel in from further afield, giving us great reach across London and the South-East.”

For Cadence, being based in Oxted is about more than just geography. It’s about connection. “There’s such a strong sense of community here,” says Lucy. “We really value that. It’s always a pleasure to bump into friends, colleagues or clients when we’re out and about. That sense of belonging is part of what makes doing business in Oxted so special.”

From its unique philosophy to its local roots, Cadence Accounting offers a refreshing take on what it means to be an accountant in today’s world – one that’s firmly grounded in trust, growth and a shared journey to the top.
