On Saturday 16th March Fennies officially opened its brand new purpose-built nursery in the heart of Oxted.
Nursery Manager, Dayna Pledge was joined by her nursery staff team plus local Oxted residents and families to celebrate the launch of the new nursery and preschool with visitors being the first to get a look inside the nursery since its completion.
MP for East Surrey, Sam Gyimah joined Dayna and the team to officially open the nursery with the cutting of the ribbon and was there to raise a toast to celebrate following his previous efforts to support the original plans to open a much-need day nursery and preschool in Oxted.
Located on Amy Road just a 1-minute walk from the main train station, Fennies Oxted is ideal for families who live locally or commute into and out of London.
This gorgeous nursery was custom-designed and building work began last year from the ground up allowing Fennies to meticulously plan each of the rooms to exacting specifications. From the layout to the modern facilities and quality resources, every step has been taken in the design to ensure each room maximises on opportunities for Early Years development.
The upper-floor baby room is entirely self-sufficient with neighbouring nappy changing area and milk kitchen and separate cornered areas that encourage quiet time in line with the Communication Friendly Spaces approach. An on site chef is fully prepared for meal times with the nursery following a delicious menu that caters to all dietary requirements and babies who are weaning.
A secure garden area is set up for outdoor story time and block play which encourages the use of imagination, self-expression and problem-solving as well as physical development.
Nursery Manager Dayna Pledge says:
“It has been so wonderful to be part of this journey from its inception last year to now. I feel so fortunate to have been so involved in shaping the nursery through the build, the recruitment of staff and the roll out of the Fennies curriculum. We are so excited to now be at the point where we are welcoming families through the door.
We have worked tirelessly over the past few months to ensure we can offer outstanding quality in the setting, from the learning approaches we adopt to our accreditation with the Early Years Nutrition Partnership and how we recruit and train our new staff team.
Over the next few weeks, we will be welcoming lots of new babies and children to begin their childhood learning journey with us and we can’t wait to start building bonds and working in partnerships with local families.”
Fennies Oxted is now open to visits 5 days a week and is offering parents free registration for its first week. You can call 0208 770 3222 or email book.visit@fennies.com to arrange a visit with the Nursery Manager or go to fennies.com/oxted to find out more about the nursery.
