Oxted Library launches Warm Up Wednesdays

Our fabulous local library, Oxted Library is an officially designated “warm hub” – open Tuesday to Saturday – for anyone who is in need of some warmth, a smile and some company.

And from tomorrow, 25 January, until March (at least) they’ll also be running monthly “Warm Up Wednesdays” offering free creative activity and/or advice in a social environment.

What is a Warm Hub?

Warm Hubs offer a “Warm Welcome” at all local Surrey Libraries (during their individual open hours), providing a friendly, accessible space in the centre of communities; a space that is open to all.

With books for pleasure and for learning on tap, as well as free Wi-Fi, computer access, your nearest warm hub is the perfect place to relax and recharge.

Oxted Library (and all warm hubs) also offer:

  • free hot drinks
  • activity packs (puzzles, colouring packs, card/board games, crochet sets, knitting sets etc.)
  • wash kits
  • information and advice on other activities you can take part in – either at Oxted Library or at other venues

Warm Up Wednesdays

As part of the Surrey County Council’s Warm Welcome and Warm Hub Initiative, Oxted Library will be running FREE monthly Coffee Mornings in January, February and March, each with a different theme.

The first one is taking place on Wednesday 25th January 10.30am-12pm with a relaxing and creative stone painting session. Other Warm Up Wednesdays will take place on 22nd February and 22nd March.

FREE Energy Advice Coffee Morning

In conjunction with Tandridge Citizens Advice Bureau, Oxted Library will also be running a FREE energy advice coffee morning on 8th February 10.30am-12pm.

It’s been a tough time for many people over this winter, with cold snaps and high energy bills meaning that many people may have felt isolated and under extreme stress. At this event you will get lots of useful information and be able to ask questions about tariffs, grants and energy efficiency from the helpful people of the CAB team.

Oxted Library and your other Warm Hubs are here to give you a warm welcome.
