Originally launched as Robert Leech Commercial in 1992 by Peter Gildersleve, a Chartered Surveyor with a long history of successful acquisitions for retailers and hospitality chains, the business was run by Peter until 2002 when he was joined by Nick Payne, also an Associate Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and no relation to the Payne of Payne & Co! After four years of the pair working together, the business re-branded as Gildersleve & Payne in 2006.
Nick is a well known figure around Oxted, having lived in the town with his wife Shanne for over 30 years, and knows pretty much all the business owners, property owners and landlords. He has over 35 years’ experience dealing with all aspects of commercial property, having worked in private practice in Central London with Leighton Goldhill and Hillier Parker, before joining Arlington Business Parks, the UK’s leading developer of Business Parks, Where he worked for 14 years.
Peter Gildersleve officially retired from the business three years ago, but still works as a consultant, imparting his vast commercial property knowledge, acquired over 40 years.
G&P is now run by Nick and Associate, David Sutton, who joined in 2015, following several years in the commercial property team at another former Oxted institution, Howard Cundey.
They are supported by Jane Pearce, who knows all there is to know about the business and more, and has provided administrative and marketing support since 1994, after working in residential property for a number of years.
G&P Property offer a full range of commercial property services in the local area as well as other parts of Surrey, South London (they have a Croydon office) and North Kent. Services include sales and lettings, search and acquisition. They also act for both Landlords and Tenants in respect of Lease Renewals and Rent Reviews.
The commercial property business is very sensitive and discretion is the name of the game when dealing with businesses selling up, moving in or moving on, but Peter, Nick, David and Jane are trusted implicitly by their clients and won’t be drawn on gossip!
While they run the agency from their offices above Streeter Marshall on Station Road West, they are out and about all the time around the town, and there’s more than the odd meeting held in Cafe Papillon (including ours)!
