If you’ve had girls at Oxted school who wanted their school skirts shortened or prom dresses altered, you will most likely know Sew Perfect on Oxted’s pretty Station Road West.
Sew Perfect is opposite Cafe Papillon, next to Stag Grooming and is a great business that specialises in delivering high quality repairs and alterations for suits, uniform, prom dresses, evening dresses and any other garments that need attention.
Run by Ali Roshan, there is nothing you can’t get fixed or altered in Sew Perfect. Ali is very well regarded, and even a certain well-known TV dance show judge regularly uses him to alter her fabulous outfits (there were some in the shop when we visited, but they were kept firmly under wraps!).
Ali is a great example of someone who has made a success of himself despite difficult circumstances. He left Afghanistan, determined to make a life for himself away from the conflict and with his cousin, trained as a tailor in Iran, then living and working in Greece before coming to England in 2006.
This entrepreneurial and resilient man opened Sew Perfect in Oxted 14 years ago and has built up a fantastic reputation for his skilled tailoring service. There is a second Sew Perfect in Sevenoaks, a larger unit that handles all the Dry Cleaning side of the business, and which also has its own resident tailor.
As well as bespoke tailoring, alterations and repairs, hems, buttons and zips and anything else you might need done, Sew Perfect handles dry cleaning, for even the most delicate clothing items.
If you love sewing machines, you’ll be mesmerised by the technical equipment in the shop, including some fantastic old Singers that are just there for show. Ali, however, works with the latest tech and machinery!

Sew Perfect has all the haberdashery and equipment you need for your own home-based needlework, this little sewing shop sells a wide range of needlecraft paraphernalia, including buttons of every shape and size, a vast array of colourful threads, pins and needles, thimbles, safety pins, fabric scissors, measuring tapes, hem tape, sewing machine bulbs and also Dylon clothing dye!
