Another fabulous milestone celebrated this month on Station Road East, is Beauty Box’s 10th anniversary.
This much loved hair and beauty salon is run by Oxted family, the Cheshires – sisters Lindsey (who runs all the treatments) and Jackie (who manages the business and front of house) and their parents, Linda and Chris plus a host of long-term practitioners and therapists, delivering a wide range of hair and beauty treatments from their relaxing treatment rooms.
Lindsey has worked in beauty her whole career, as a trained practitioner in all sorts of treatments and an experienced manager of spas and health clubs. Beauty Box already existed in Oxted and Lindsay had actually worked there part time in her early 20s, so when she learned that its owner, Maxine was retiring, Lindsey decided it was time to work for herself and offered to buy the business with her family. The rest is history, and including the two original staff members – Anne and Aurelia – who came with the business, the Beauty Box family has expanded to 11.
The business has gone from strength building its offer to include the latest Crystal Clear Microneedling and Microdermabrasion treatments, as well as facials, piercing, waxing, all types of massage, spray tans, hair removal and of course, nail services.
Brands include Elemis, L’Oréal, Jessica and Shellac, as well as some local brands and there are always some lovely gift packs available.
Lindsey and Jackie believe that the success of their business is down to their friendly and welcoming staff and family. “Customer service is a huge part of our business ethic,” said Lindsey. “We’re really proud of our reputation and that our clients often comment about how friendly and relaxed we are.”
“We are very lucky to be on the high street and have the benefit of passing footfall,” said Jackie, “but almost all of our business comes from word of mouth and referrals from our existing clients, which is really lovely. We have clients from many generations of families and have probably pierced the ears of thousands of local teenagers over the years!”
