Track 1 Oxted – new owners serve great coffee with a smile for your morning commute

Oxted Station’s coffee kiosk has brand new owners who are determined to bring to your early morning commute the best, ethically sourced Union Hand Roasted coffee, hot and cold snacks and drinks, all served with an extra shot of great service and friendly banter.

The Stubley family may already be well known to some of you, if you’re regular travellers from Hurst Green.  Lorna, Jon, son Will and their friendly team of locals have been serving up coffee with a warm smile since they opened Track 1 Hurst Green on a snowy day in April 2021, following decades dreaming about owning a coffee business and a couple of years of actively looking for premises.

Having missed out on several opportunities, Jon, a 30-year veteran of the BBC, and Lorna, a former city worker turned schools marketing and admissions officer, learned about the opportunity at Hurst Green and despite it being a little out of their search area, they knew it was too good to pass up… and the rest is history!

The family quickly made friends with the Hurst Green commuters and made their little cafe a very popular pit stop.

Serving Union Hand Roasted Coffee, known for sustainability and ethical practices, their coffee is premium quality, ethically sourced and served in fully recyclable cups.

This is very important to Lorna, who appreciates the importance of great coffee for her early morning customers.

“I’ve been in their shoes,” she said, having spent many years working in the city. “I know how important good quality, well made coffee is first thing in the morning, so we make sure we deliver the best.”

Lorna trained as a barista and did work experience at The Shard, and as well as serving great coffee, she clearly loves her job.

“It’s the best fun,” says Lorna. “We have a great time and our customers are a real laugh. This is the best thing I’ve ever done, but it’s the people who really make it.”

With Jon currently back in TV land for the time being, she and her son Will, a sports journalism graduate, run both kiosks and will continue to split their time between Hurst Green and Oxted, along with their staff. So don’t worry, they will still be familiar faces to their regular Hurst Green customers as well as making new friends in Oxted.

Why not pop in and say hello. Their coffee is great. My Americano was 10/10 and I’m really fussy! ☕️

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 05.30 to 14.00 and Sunday 10.00 – 14.00
